2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Management Transition Comes After Mixed Reception
Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing unveiling last fall.
Recently, the company's top executive a key figure informed staff about this organizational change through an internal memo, which highlighted that playtesting had shown the requirement for a distinct game identity.
Ismailer noted that the developers is now overhauling the project with a renewed focus, aiming to satisfy community desires.
A Pattern of Strategic Recruitment
The news echoes a comparable move taken by the publisher in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock development group.
Below is the entire message from the president's communication:
Team—
I understand you all just wrapped up your gathering - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Previously I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most driven and innovative creators we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that relationship to persist.”
With your dedication and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was enlightening. It confirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had work to do. It highlighted the requirement for a sharper brand.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You accepted the criticism to consideration and revamped the title with a renewed direction - one that’s ready to deliver on its ambition to our audience.
The belief in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To boost the remarkable progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce Ben Brinkman as the incoming Studio Head of the team. After several months of discussions, he officially joins us on the specified date.
Ben’s guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter field is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years producing and managing some of the most popular series in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
I invite you all in receiving Ben in the coming days. We are all excited to keep witnessing the development of the game in the time to ahead.
David
Experience of the Incoming Leader
Brinkman presently holds the role of executive producer and head of production at the renowned studio for their flagship title. Brinkman previously worked at Treyarch and Activision in various development positions on the Call of Duty games, and, before that, had periods at 2K and Electronic Arts.
Game Details and Concept
The upcoming game was revealed in last year together with a community playtest. Initially, 31st Union presented the title as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative advancement on the category."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in live gameplay to match your preferred approach," the description states. "Face the opponents with new abilities, challenges, and tests that shift every session. Will you safely extract with your collected items? Or take a risk, put it on the line, and pray your group can secure victory? The option is up to you."
Project Ethos does not have an announced release date or platforms, but players can expect additional details as development advances.
