Background of Controversy and Rules
The system has been condemned for enabling users to create photos and footage with explicit content and sexually suggestive material, and it was previously accused of making graphic content of public figures.
"X has been permitting the creation and sharing of these images for a long time without taking any measures and we have yet to see any intervention by regulators," the expert added.
XAI's own terms of service forbids "depicting images of people in a graphic manner".
In a statement, Ofcom said it was unlawful to "generate or distribute deepfakes or illegal content" and stated this covered sexual deepfakes created with AI.
